Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Tour with Jersey Family Fun { 2/5/12 }

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to participate in the Jersey Family Fun tour of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Collingswood, NJ. Although it was about an hour drive from my house Peyton and I had a blast learning about Krispy Kreme and checking out behind the scences!

Here's a snippet about Krispy Kreme:
Krispy Kreme’s most famous and best-selling product is the glazed, yeast-raised doughnut known as the “Krispy Kreme Original Glazed®.” In addition to the Original Glazed®, each store also offers numerous other varieties of yeast-raised and cake doughnuts. Participating retail stores can also produce shaped doughnuts: hearts, footballs, stars, eggs and pumpkins which are decorated with icing and sprinkles. The Krispy Kreme brand has several unique elements that have helped us create a special bond with our customers. Our Hot Doughnuts Now sign, when illuminated, is a signal to our customers that our signature product, hot Original Glazed® doughnuts are being made. The Hot Doughnuts Now sign is an integral contributor to our brand’s mystique
Getting their glaze on!

On our tour we were able to check out behind the scenes at Krispy Kreme.

The Manager Jim was very friendly and VERY informative. I learned that the doughnuts are glazed at the store and they are NUT FREE!

Here are some doughnuts before the glaze!

Krispy Kreme makes birthday "cakes" which is another thing that I learned. Saturday we got to see first hand how a birthday "cake" is made.

This one was a birthday/Giants "cake"

The kids also were able to make their own doughnut.
Dunk in chocolate, then dip in sprinkles!

Finished product:

I of course had to purchase 2 dozen before heading home. I just couldn't resist

We had such a fun day at Krispy Kreme that Peyton is already asking if we can go back and make doughnuts!

Yummy! I have never eaten a Krispy Kreme-- none of their stores are near me.
