Crane Hello Kitty Review { GIVEAWAY } #BabyMustHaves

During our #BabyMustHaves it dawned on me that you can't have a baby and not a cool mist humidifier! The nice folks at Crane generously offered Party of 5 the chance to review one.

Since we already have a pretty boyish looking one { its blue } I decided to go for the Hello Kitty Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier to use when the girls need it. Look how stinking adorable Hello Kitty is as a humidifier!

I just love her cute pink bow :)

Besides looking so adorable Hello Kitty also has some really important features to her:

* Adorable child friendly design
* Supports easy breathing-refreshing relief from year round heating and cooling
* Removable water tank for easy carrying and CLEANING { this is an IMPORTANT THING! YOU MUST CLEAN YOUR humidifier AFTER EACH USE!!! }
* Night Light function
* Up to 11 hours running timer per tank filling.
* Auto -off function when water tank is empty
* Illuminated tank provides night light function
* Tank capacity 1 gallon
* Low power consumption
* Whisper quiet operation
* 120 volt, 60Hx, 45 Watt
* Adjustable humidity output control

You can also purchase Demineralization Filter Cartridges. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing a few of these.

So as I stated before about cleaning and emptying the tank, it is SUPER important that you do so to ensure no bacteria grown inside of the tank because well who wants all that yucky stuff going out in the air for our babies to breathe? Not me!

Here's a great answer about why you should use a humidifier:

The real question is why shouldn’t you? Humidifiers add moisture to indoor air, relieving congestion from the common cold and flu and soothing scratchy throats, dry skin and eyes, and irritated sinuses. Perfect for babies, adults, and everyone in between, a humidifier’s additional moisture thins the mucus in the sinuses, making it easier to breathe. (And we know that when it comes down to your family’s health, you’re all about breathing easy.)
Even if you’re feeling great, our Adorable Humidifiers are must-haves. From smooth skin to shiny hair to cared-for furniture, they keep you and your home looking beautiful and feeling comfortable

Party of 5 is thoroughly pleased with the quality and functionality of the Crane Hello Kitty Ultrasonic Cool Mist humidifier.

Although, the girls like to think it is a toy and I find myself saying " girls don't touch please" about 100 times a day I'm hoping the novelty wears off!

This is an important read directly from Crane. It will help you maintain the life of your humidifier as well as get a better understanding as to why one is needed!

Young children commonly get about 6 to 8 colds and upper respiratory tract infections each year. The FDA and Pediatricians recommend not giving over the counter cough and cold medicine to children under the age of six because of the risk of overdose.

For cold and flu symptoms the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend a cool mist humidifier, saline nasal solution, and a bulb to suction the nasal mucus. A cool mist humidifier is preferred over a warm mist because the water does not boil.

Humidifiers can help:

  • Loosen nasal congestion
  • Ease Dry Coughs
  • Soothe Itchy Dry Skin
  • Moisten Chapped Lips
  • Prevent Nose Bleeds
  • Helps with Overall Cold and Flu Symptoms

Below are the different types of humidifiers:

  • Evaporative Humidifier work by soaking water up into a wick filter and blowing moisture out with a fan.
  • Steam humidifiers are sometimes called vaporizers. They work by boiling water and sending hot steam in the air.
  • Warm Mist humidifiers act exactly like vaporizers. They boil the water which turns into steam but the air is slightly cooled before it goes out into the room. Liquid Vapors can be used.
  • Cool Mist humidifiers break up water into ny droplets which is sent into the air cool.
  • Ultrasonic humidifier is similar to a stereo speaker. It uses a nebulizer which vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency to create mist. Ultrasonic humidifiers are whisper quiet. NOTE: If a customer’s has a lot of minerals in their water the humidifier may create a “white dust”. White dust is not harmful. To reduce the minerals in the water a customer can use distilled, purified, or filtered water OR purchase a demineralization.
  • It is not necessary to have the humidifier on the highest mist. Medium mist, with door ajar, is best.
  • Humidifiers must be cleaned. It is important to empty water in the water tank and water basin daily. The humidifiers must be disinfected once a week with a simple 2 T white vinegar and ½ gallon of water solution. Let solution sit for 20 minutes and then rinse. Be careful not to get water in water basin fan
  • EMPTY WATER BASIN DAILY. Disinfect weekly with 4 capfuls of white vinegar and 4 cups of water solution. Shake water tank and let sit for 30 minutes, rinse. Place vinegar water solution also in water basin.
