Food, Music, Rides and The Fall!
The Largest Main Street Festival in Bergen County

The Hackensack Upper Main Alliance and the City of Hackensack are gearing up for the 9th Annual Hackensack Street Festival on Saturday, September 27th, 2014. The festival will be held from 10am-6pm on Main Street between Atlantic and Passaic Street, rain or shine. Hundreds of merchants, food vendors, games and attractions turn Hackensack’s Main Street into a free family fun festival

Known as the largest Main Street festival in Bergen County, the streets become lined with inflatable bounce houses for kids, a real paleontologist dinosaur fossil dig, an obstacle course, face painting, clowns, an extreme slide and more! Over 200 vendors participate in the Street Festival, which features a large selection of international foods such as sausage and peppers, zeppole cheese steaks, shish-ka-bobs, as well as Spanish, Mexican and Greek dishes.

This year’s headlining entertainment - Average White Band! Known to fans as AWB, they are widely regarded as one of the best soul and funk bands in the history of music. Though best known for their timeless instrumental mega-hit 'Pick Up the Pieces', songs such as 'Cut The Cake' and 'Let's Go Round Again' became hit singles. Many of their album tracks, like 'Schoolboy Crush' and 'Stop The Rain', are frequently sampled in today’s popular music.

The Johnson Public Library Courtyard will feature a full day of children’s entertainment including a special African Drum & Dance performance by The Center for Modern Dance Education. And just down the block on Berry Street the Hackensack YMCA of Greater Bergen County will be hosting a variety of fun-filled sports activities.

“With all the great changes coming to Hackensack’s Main Street, starting off Autumn with the Street Festival is a long standing tradition for so many Bergenites.” Says Jerry Lombardo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Upper Main Alliance. “It’s a wonderful day for families to enjoy food, rides and headlining entertainment.”
