- ‘Base of Terror’ takes a year of planning by volunteers, including professional theater set designers, acting students, lighting designers, sound engineers, artists, theatrical make-up artists, and tech engineers - ultimately creating a mind-bending fun and frightful experience that’s visually unique and compelling.
- Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2015, the fright walk / maze theme is all-new new every year. Guests walk through old buildings and around the former Army Base for more than three-quarters of a mile.
- The one-mile trail framed by straggly sycamore trees is designed around underlit structures like an old lookout tower, research offices, a brick hotel and much more. Guests can’t help but slip back into childhood nightmares based on the shadows.
- 40+ volunteer actors (many professional actors and theater students) ‘host’ nightly. Costume preparation takes up to three hours.
- The 55-acre Camp Evans Army Base was once the history-making home of top secret experimental radar, radio and satellite research… and now the perfect home for the ‘undead.’
- Visitors over the age of 14 come from around the tri-state area to absorb the mental and visual fear.
- ‘Base of Terror’ is open every Friday and Saturday in October (beginning Oct. 2), from 7 to 11 pm. General admission is $17 (discounts for students, veterans, etc.). 100% of proceeds benefit the Info Age Science History Learning Museum and preservation efforts of the historic landmark.
